After 24 h, the water remaining inside is still warm. The stopper is plastic and leaves a strong smell to the water at first. Perhaps soak it beforehand might help. But after a month or so, it is almost completely odor free. Also, fingerprints noticeably stick to the outside metallic surface, which is a bit of an annoyance to some.
