Summary: After much toil and trouble of researching various tape recorders, I'm happy to say I'm VERY pleased with this product. It has all the bells and whistles and more. I was having an EXTREMELY difficult time finding a tape recorder in any of my local stores, much less one with features I needed. So I turned to our ever-faithful friend, the Internet, to help me out. Gotta love it!!! As a result, I found this recorder and so far it's proven to be a blessing. Most recorders I did find in stores only recorded in mono and I needed stereo sound where you could hear what you've recorded in BOTH ears!!!! Also, I needed a microphone jack. This recorder has it. Features I got but wasn't looking for include double-speed playback for extending your recording time of your tape and variable speed playback which is helpful in my job as a court reporter for when I have witnesses who talk fast and I need to hear them at a slower speed. Now the best for last....the price!!!!! At under $50.00, this beauty is a steal!!!! The last Sony I purchased 9 yrs ago cost over $120 and I was fully expecting to pay the same or more because I had gotten that at a clearance price. So...let's say Christmas came early this year. I couldn't be happier. Thanks, Pricegrabber, for bringing consumer and product together to live happily ever after!!!!

Strengths: Light weight. Other makes also available but none with playback speed control which is the \"THE ICING ON THE CAKE.\"
Summary: I have had a Sony Cassette recorder-player with similar features. I t was stolen last winter. I tried, tried and tried in any make but no one had a playback speed control. And I was adamant on having the playback speed control. Eventually, I was able to locate SONY TCM- 400DV and was very pleased to have it. I would recommend it very highly.
Summary: I am writing a book and need to do many interviews. The recorder is very light and will not weigh down my purse. The playback speed control is very important for when I am typing and listening to my interviews. Good size, not to small like a micro cassette.
