1 Port DB-9 RS-232 Multiport Serial Adapter
Marketing Information
Add reliable, high-speed serial ports for connecting card readers, barcode scanners and other serial devices to laptop, tablet and handheld PCs. Available in 1 port for RS-232. One of the most complete and robust Serial PCMCIA cards in the marketplace, Quatech PCMCIA cards can expand a mobile system's capabilities while taking up minimal system resources. Because they share electronic fundamentals with native bus architectures such as PCI and ISA, they function exactly like standard COM ports and can be addressed as such by most application software. In addition, their small size and the fact that the card itself can be left inside the computer at all times, make them practical choices for the "most mobile" portable systems.

Strengths: Works great, Reliable, Solid Speed, Also compatible with Windows Vista
Summary: This is a solid product. I bought this to be able to connect/configure my Cisco routers & switches via the com serial port using my Laptop. It works flawlessly.

I could've bought a cheapie $15 alternative on FleaBay but the quality on all of those looked terrible and they weren't compatible with the new Windows Vista. Plus Quatech backs up their products with a 5 year warranty.

The only downside is that I think I should've spent the extra $7-$10 and bought the rugged version which is the SSRP100. I thought that this version would be ideal because the end cable is detachable in case I accidentally snap it off, I could always just buy a replacement cable. But it turns out that the rugged version is not a fixed attached cable but also the same detachable cable as well, except the rugged version is more durable. So far the performance is good but right now I'm scared to snap the end cable while it's attached to the PCMCIA card.
