Summary: The automatic turnoff is disconcerting. I think the timer is set at about 10 seconds. I think this should be increased to about 30 seconds.
If I'm speaking for more than 10 seconds, it turns off. When the recipient starts to speak, I miss the first or second word they speak before the amplifier turns back on.

Strengths: Lots of extra voume for noisy locations.
Summary: What can I say, it does a good job. The biggest drawback is that it uses hearing aid batteries, not something you find just anywhere. I'd have preferred AA or AAA sized batteries even if it meant a slightly larger case. The coiled cord that goes to your phone mini plug socket is a bit short for me. It could be longer, but this isn't a deal breaker. Maybe someone sells an extender cord, I'll have to look.
On the whole, I'm glad I bought it. But then again, I think it's the only product of its kind out there.
