Summary: I purchased this (refurbished) print server for my business so that I could use a thermal printer approx. 50 feet from the nearest workstation. In that it exceeded my expectations! All I had to do is run a cord from my network switch and an extension cord to the nearest outlet for the power supply. For most users this should be an easy install, but because I was using a commercial thermal label printer, the configuration took me about 2 hours of searching on the printer manuf. web site to get the right settings! Once done though it worked perfectly and was only limited by the data speed of the network.
Be careful of the refurbished units however! Mine worked perfectly through the cooler months but now that the temp. in the warehouse are up in the 80s, the PS101 is failing. I can disconnect it, put it in the freezer for 10 min. to cool it down and it will work for about an hour before failing again. I plan on buying a brand new unit to replace it but who knows, the higher temp. might be an issue with the new one also. I hope not though because this has been a perfect unit as far as size and function.

Summary: I Installed this print server on a Ricoh 200 copier/printer/fax. I then installed the software on 2 of my computers, one running WIN 2000 and the other XP Pro. There were no problems with the installation and everything worked properly. I will probably buy another one for my other printer.

Strengths: Works perfectly and fits directly onto the parallel port or a printer. Small size makes it very convenient and enables you to move the printer anywhere you want.
Summary: Netgear makes the most reliable home and small office networking products on the market. The PS101 print server was remarkably easy to set up and works without a glitch on my HP Laserjet 2100. A phoneline interface would have been perfect for hooking this up to my RP334 DSL router, but instead I had to purchase an ethernet to phoneline bridge (PE102) to accomplish this task. The power supply design is unnecessarily bulky making it difficult to use in combination with other adapters on powerstrip type surge protectors.
