Strengths: The wheel has potential, the DEMO of Logitech's Gaming Software Profile manager shows many force feedback effects are possible, and gives strong movements when activated, BUT that's about all. :( Summary: It's amazing, for a company to have a product with so much potential for realistic wheel action, they can't tell me what companies are supporting all of its force feedback effects in the games.
I've tried many different racing games, driving simulators, and other games using this wheel controller, and NONE so far actually use all the effects for force feedback. (there seems to be 10 or 12 effects, shown in the Gaming Software Profile Manager's DEMO section) I've just had the rumble, and wheel shaking supported in games, and nothing more.
I called, and e-mailed Logitech to ask if they can tell me what gaming software authoring companies used all the force feedback source code, and they just directed me to a web list of games for the wingman controller, not even this MOMO Racing controller, so that wasn't any help. You'd think they'd know what game authors asked for support on all the force feedback effects, but Logitech doesn't seem to care.
Just because the game uses the controller, doesn't mean it uses all the force feedback effects, as I've painfully found out so far.
I've had this controller for over two(2) years, (at the time of this reviews posting), and have been VERY disappointed in the LACK of FULL force feedback effects EVERY game shows... it's been a waste of money for me so far, and very frustrating when each game just has simple rumble, and wheel shaking.
I could have gotten a simple hand controller with the limited rumble effect, and saved tons of cash NOT purchasing this MOMO Racing wheel.
If you're thinking of getting one of these wheels, THINK AGAIN, besides most games not fully supporting all the effects, they're also weak in strength in most games as well, even with the Gaming Software Profile Manager Logitech supplies to \"BOOST\" the effects power. I had it fully UP at 150% and still had lack luster effect strength of the rumble and wheel shaking.
What a \"CROCK\" of bull. I don't know why Game Authoring Companies don't use all the effects, but it truly makes this wheel useless, and it's a shame with so much potential this wheel has to offer. Strengths: Solid, smooth, and comfortable. Summary: This wheel/pedal combination is defintely worth the $86 I paid for it. The rubber-coated wheel is comfortable and smooth. The paddle shifters and all six button are within easy reach. The pedals are smooth, but could use a little more resistance to provide more precision. The pedal unit could also be slightly heavier and less prone to moving. The materials and construction are top-notch. Overall, this is probably the most bang for the buck for a wheel/pedal combo under $100. Within that category it is a 5-five star product. Strengths: Great styling and rock solid performance. Summary: The Logitech MOMO Racing Force Feedback Wheel offers plenty of features that include a full sized non-slip peddle pad, a shift knob that is easy to reach and can be switched from side to side, a rubber coated wheel that is comfortable as well as good looking, and the ability to recognize your games and save all settings for each game. I played Microsoft's Rallisport Challenge. This rally racing game gives you both on-road and off-road racing surfaces and seemed a natural choice for a force feedback wheel. When this game was played with a standard wheel, it was a blast. When played with the new MOMO wheel, it becomes an unbelievable experience. Again you can actually feel the road surface change beneath your cars as you traverse from asphalt to gravel to dirt. Sharp precise shifting gives you unparalleled control over your cars power to the ground which can be crucial during a full four wheel drift through a tight turn. As with the other games, the ability to adjust your throttle response and braking points has a profound effect on your ability to control your car. This game also required me to go in and reset the controller settings a couple of times until I found the combination that worked best, but after that was done the game played so smooth and sweet, it was nearly a whole new game. This product is a definite must have for the serious racing gamer. Superior quality, features, performance and value all rolled up into one great looking package. It is one wheel that deserves a serious look from anyone looking to buy a Force Feedback wheel and shows that Logitech has taken the needs of gamers very seriously and is dedicated to providing top notch products at value prices.
