Strengths: Charge and run many different devices from AC, auto, plane.Thin and light. Forward compatible?Plenty of power.Automatically selects correct voltage for your device; no switches.
Summary: This is a nice adapter to always carry with your notebook computer. It can also charge your mobile phone, PDA, MP3, etc. (and maybe your electric razor in the future as well?) by changing any of the multiple tips provided. If you carry the extra provided tips with you in your car/luggage, you may be able to help out a fellow traveler who forgot his/her charger--even if they have a device that is not similar to your own. If the tip for your computer is not included in the package, Kensington will send you ONE free of charge, IF THEY HAVE IT. I have been waiting for three weeks for the proper tip to fit my Dell Latitude X300; it is on back order. Additional tips are available for purchase. Check the Kensington website and you will find that many tips are available only as a \"preorder\" (at least as of 11/12/05). Proper voltage/polarity for your device is controlled by simply selecting the correct tip. So far I have used other tips provided to charge my older Dell and mobile phone with no problem. The detachable power cord is only about six inches long. The output cord is about ten feet long. It is a bit bulky when bundled for storage, however, due to its length and considerable girth. Presumably this is due to the five conductors within the cord so that the proper voltage can be selected by the location of the contacts within each tip. In-use indicator is a pretty blue LED. Size: 5.62\" x 3.10\" x 0.75\". Weight: Unit only, 7.0 oz.; with AC cord, output cord, velcro bundling strap, and 1 adapter tip, 12 oz. (Dell AC only PA-1650-05D weighs 14 oz. with cord and rubber strap.) I'd give it five stars except for the possible hassle of obtaining the correct tip for your device and the fact that the output cord is so bulky--but that compromise also helps make this device so versatile. Edit 01/09/06: Smart tip for my Dell X300 arrived in early December and works as expected. I noted, however, that the Smart tip assembly sticks out about 3\" from the side of my computer or back of its docking station. It would be nice if this assembly was smaller or designed at a right angle to save space--could present space problems when used in a cramped area.

Strengths: Lightweight, compact, lots of power
Summary: I own both the iGo and this Kensington and would go with the Kensington hands down if there were more tips available. The short, AC-side cord, has drawn a lot of complaints but I personally don't find it that unhandy (I really dislike lots of cords all over the place).
I was concerned this wouldn't have enough power for my notebook (a Sony SZ series) but I haven't had that problem. However, it does have the same problem with some Dell notebooks as the iGo (it will only run the notebook, not charge it).
Their tip selection could certainly be better. That's the only thing stopping me from ditching my iGo completely.

Strengths: Good adapter ,Lightweight, single adapter to carryaround instead of multiple adapters especially for roadwarriors
Summary: I have been using this adapter for more than 11 days and it was worth the price I bought it for at the time of purchase(51.99) I travel a lot and this replaced the \"1 Pound/105 W Brick\" that powers my vaio laptop and my Razr adapter . Had to buy the smarttips at circuit city for the vaio/razr(extra 9.99 each) Kensington has a \"new\" adapter #38004 and the adapter # 33197 are the same except that the newer adapter does not come with 6 free smartips that come with 33197 Also noticed that this adapter charges the battery for my vaio faster than the vaio brick. The pouch to store the adapter is looks/feels cheap Make sure your equipment is supported before you buy this product
