Strengths: Simple to use, decent screen, voice prompts
Summary: Take the Nuvi 350, stretch the screen a bit and you end up with the 650. The difference in model numbers would suggest a larger difference. The reviews below have already touched on everything worth mentioning, so this will probably just reinforce those views.
The unit is well designed, compact, and easy to use. No problems there. Some people require a \"traveling salesman\" type of POI requirement, but I don't so I can't weigh in on that. The voice prompts work well and it does a fairly good job of pronouncing names.
The real quibbles I have are not a fault of the unit itself, but rather how it is priced. The screen is definitly not worth the $100 bump over the 350 which is basically identical. Also, there isn't a case included with this.

Strengths: Accurate, easy to use, large screen size visible in the sun, vocal directions with street names
Summary: This is a great unit. Large touchscreen makes it easy to see and use. Capable of displaying pictures and playing mp3, but limited by amount of internal memory. If you get this, buy the friction mount for your dash, it is very stable and you don't have to worry about suction cups failing. Also get a case for it to protect the screen when not in use, too bad it does not come with one considering the price. One accessory I would not recommend is the Fodor's travel card. Very limited in geographies it covers and also gives inaccurate locations. For a restaurant I was going to in the Berkshires, it was taking me 2 miles away from where this long term restaurant was located. The built in mapping software in the 650 was right on for the same destination.

Summary: Overall this is a pretty good unit compared to other units I've tried. Although every GPS has its shortcomings and this unit is no exception, the Nuvi 650 performs above average. The rerouting is fast and the routes for the most part are pretty accurate and optimal. The only exceptions are the following: Some streets that have changed within the past year or two are not reflected in the maps. I took a trip to the Belmont area in CA, and the unit kept directing me to a couple of streets that no longer exist. Like other GPS units, this unit doesn't tell you to do a U-turn. Instead, you have to assume the action based on the unit's navigation through little side streets, which in itself is not bad, but the U-turn directions are not always optimal. One nice feature about this unit is that it warns you to stay either left or right, so you can avoid last second lane changes. One other minor benefit I enjoy from the GPS unit is knowing how many more miles I have to go on the current road even if I am familiar with the directions. The list of POIs is comprehensive. I was able to find a couple of nice restaurants in an area I was unfamiliar with. The voice is pleasant and doesn't sound robotic. Streets are pronounced correctly even though some may be of spanish origin, like many of the roads in CA. The heading displays the road you are on, but also displays your next heading as you approach it. The Nuvi 650 does take a little getting use to as far as its little quirks and timing of when to take the next turn, but overall the unit performs with good marks.
