Strengths: PortabilityGood Sound
Summary: I purchased this for my teen daughter's birthday after looking at all the numerous generic portable players. JBL has a good name so I tried it. The sound is pretty good for a small set. The sound quality is actually very good compared to the no-name brands. You can make the volume pretty loud but at the higher volume the bass tones disappear somewhat. No vibration at the louder volume. Very convenient and easy to use with the iPod Nano 2nd Generation that is used with this system. It takes 4 AA batteries. Lightweight but has a good sturdy feel to it. My daughter loves it and likes being able to take it to her friends' homes since it isn't much bigger than her purse. Definitely worth spending the few dollars more to get this quality product.

Strengths: surprisingly good sound for size/weight. International travel-friendly.
Summary: This is ideal for air travel and backpacking. Lightweight (incl auto volt ac wall wart power supply), folds flat, has bayonet mount plug adapters for almost any country. Side by side comparo with similarly sized, more expensive IM-3 showed that IM-11 had superior bass range and consequently \"richer\" sound. Charges ipod too so you can leave charger at home. Batt life from 4AA batts is also surprisingly good. This is definitely NOT a boom-box. There is no free lunch; if you want party sounds, you have to pay the price in size and weight. The IM-11 is sufficient for hotel room sounds or intimate outdoor gatherings. Usb and line in allow use for laptop or discman/walkman.
