Strengths: Three skill levels for editing, from quick and easy to fully advanced, all very easy to use. Adequate help files. Summary: Having upgraded from Elements 2 to Elements 6, I am totally pleased with the new features. I especially like the new layout and the new, dark gray window makes the photos really stand out rather than having to compete with the brightness of a white background. Strengths: Easy to useExcellent interfaceDoes what I need it to do Summary: I had been using some other software to do phot retouching. In fact, I had been using 3 different programs. None of them could do everything I wanted, but they were reliable, cheap/free, worked fine. I started to get more serious about my photography recently, so I decided to upgrade to a more modern program. Photoshop itself is a great program, but too complex for me at this time. The Elements version is just fine, and more powerful than I expected. Handles .RAW files just fine, and is much better than the software provide by the manf. of my new DSLR.
Highly recommended for beginners as well as serious photographers who do not want to commit the time and money to Photoship CS3. Strengths: Has all the commonly used features for a digital photo enthusiast. Adobe generally releases decent software--not using the customers as beta testers. Summary: I have been a photoshop user for over 10 years. I bought the new version to replace version 4.0, which has served me well. Even though the word element might implie a \"lite\" version, it has all the functionalities for pretty serious digital photo editing, great value for the price.
