Strengths: More of the same Acrobat frustration. Summary: I have been a long-time Acrobat user and thought it would be good to upgrade. After all, v.6 was such a big improvement over v.5, maybe v.8 would be better on my new Core2Duo, right? Wrong!! Adobe seems to have botched it, again, and so we will have to wait for the .1 update or, more likely, .2, .3, .4, and .5 just like in 2002. I had much better results with FoxIt.
Strengths: More reliable with Windows Vista. Restores some menu layouts back to the way they were with v6. Better online updating. Summary: Now that Adobe has finally updated it to fix the bugs w/Windows Vista, v8 is pretty much like Vista, almost usable.
My biggest complaint is that Adobe has changed the feature sets between Standard and Professional that I no longer need Professional. However, nowhere do they admit that if you have v7 Professional you can purchase v8 Standard Upgrade and have v7 Professional qualify during the installation for the Standard upgrade. In fact, Adobe infers in a number of places that you must upgrade Standard to Standard or Professional to Professional.
Other than this it's pretty much the same old PDF creator...
